Do you think this would work with mealworms too?

@tubemeup2 Hi, buddy sorry it took sooooo long.
The 28 qt bin size is 23″x161/4″x 6″
The kitty liter bin is 201/2″x15″x6″

Those are the sizes of the top part and the bottom part is about 1 to 2 inches smaller . Can experiment and try your own container’s the key is to use the wire screen.

@jimifyable Hi , that’s great. I hate to say yes so I’ll just say if they do just cut extra screen pcs to repair the holes . In time if you’d like to change over to wire it’s up to you. At least you got the main project complete. Great job hope you have tons of worms ! See ya Rudy

Thank you for this great idea! I’ve been dying to breed worms but it seemed so tedious! I’m definitely going to make one of these this year

@tjd1985 And I thought of this because my one lizard tank with soil/real plants has some superworms in there. Apparently one burrowed under and became a beetle, then started laying eggs. Also happens in tarantula tanks, but for some reason the tarantulas I have don’t touch the beetle.

@HALIBU77 What if we just put some potting soil or whatever that they can dig burrows under the oats so they can pupate/turn into beetles themselves and crawl out? I’d gladly produce less superworms if I can automate it and just keep dropping carrots and stuff lol. I’m lazy like that.

HALIBU77 said in July 29th, 2010 at 7:58 pm

@tjd1985 NOOOOOO IDEA ??????
HOW ABOUT YOU?

mygif
tjd1985 said in July 29th, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Got any ideas on how we can avoid/”automate” the hassle of separating them?

HALIBU77 said in July 29th, 2010 at 8:34 pm

@PurebredLondon

that’s ok, I bought superworm and separated them to become pupas.

I am also new at this but I think the youtubers call them darkling beetles ,
I think. : )

PurebredLondon said in July 29th, 2010 at 8:36 pm

What kind of beetles do you get? sorry im a newbie lol

HALIBU77 said in July 29th, 2010 at 8:40 pm

The oats are for the beetles and worms to eat and for water everyone throws in some carrots or patatos. It seems like I take care of these worms more that the bearded dragons.
But I tell you , It’s kinda fun just watching these bugs multiply like crazy instead of paying for it. This idea works It would be great if I was paid for idea’s.

I don’t care though, I do it for everyone out there to make life fun and something for everyone to do.

your comments are great enough thxs

You can try , they have a pet dept.
But if not , I got the kitty litter pan at pet club for $5.95 .

Buy the pan 1st
then buy any container
that fits the pan 2nd

keep your receipts just in case
thanks
